about

Is "jazz" real? Does the saxophone actually exist?

This was a crazy time. (D)(B)(H) was on a hot streak from 2005-2013, with a rotating cast of audio delinquents consistently helmed by Justin C. Rhody, playing a seemingly endless sprawl of live actions and unleashing piles of baffling tapes and CDR's. I have heard them referenced as a "free jazz" group, which isn't entirely inaccurate, but definitely doesn't offer much of a clue as to what is really going on. One could describe (D)(B)(H)'s work as spontaneous compositions typically created using non-traditional instruments and working within non linear music forms, i.e. "playing the room".

A venerable super team of twisted tweakers, presented here as (D)amaged (B)achelor(H)ood. The crew gave us a real doozy with this pair of improv burners, using nearly everything except the actual kitchen sink.

Taboo

Recorded May 2009 - February 2010. Two long form live actions of bewildering minimalist maximalism, plus a slightly incongruous collaborative bonus track with Mid-coast Maine coven TABOO, aka Friendly Wave (of piss and vinegar), The Tearjerker: Buckner Fant Deathrage, and A. Skull Nose. Detailed liner notes included on each individual track page.

These sounds have been rescued from the vault as part of our ongoing series of obscure analog excavations from the early days of the label catalog. A special thanks to Friends and Relatives Records for their help in keeping this one clean and crispy after all these years. The recordings have been freshly remastered from the original audio files and are finally made public as a crude but essential document of golden times past, somehow more relevant now than ever in this dark digital age.

Originally released in July, 2010 as LightenUpSound-015. Real time duplicated Type II Chrome black shell C-40 with full color woodgrain labels came packaged with "Fab Four" art paper J-card in a black Norelco case, featuring woodgrain cardstock outer dust sleeve and small eight page stapled booklet. Limited edition of 50 copies, long since disappeared.

I slept on the couch last night rather than the bed.
The couch is harder,
and when I can't sleep I need a harder surface.
Dreamed that my father told me that my work was garbage.
Mr Garbage, he called me in the dream
Then at dawn the baby woke me again.
She had taken off her nightclothes
and climbed into a pillowcase.
She was standing by the couch in the pillowcase
as if at the starting line of a sack race.
