about

Originally released in 2010, this is one of the few full length albums from NEON SEA, the solo ambient / noise project of Daniel Kaufman hailing from Chicago, IL. Frozen air and noxious vapors, "Fading Light" is a drifting cloud of mangled electro-acoustics and spectral radio interference, a psychedelic nightmare of malfunctioning machinery.

"Swimming through the miasma. Mutilated accordion, throbbing gamma rays and vicious tape manipulations swirl around tides of hissing electronics and rasping vocals to simultaneously soothe and seethe. Brings to mind a brisk jaunt through the barren tundra."

These recordings have been unearthed from the dusty LUS archives, digitized and mastered from grimy magnetic tape, and finally put forth to live on in all of it's droning, monophonic glory, a triumphant rebirth into this fearsome digital age. Coated in grit, for cultural posterity.

Initially released as Lighten Up Sound #016 on limited edition cassette. Real time duplicated to opaque sky blue shell C32 with electric pink and white screenprinted labels came packaged in full color outer dust-sleeve w/ matching double-sided J-card in clear Norelco case. Limited edition of 50.
