In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of its initial release on cassette,
Lighten Up Sounds is proud to present this limited edition lathe cut 7" containing newly re-mastered selections from the maiden voyage self-titled "Shep and Me" album. These raw recordings captured Matthew Himes in Austin TX 2001, laying down linear/non linear plink-plunkers and no-fidelity folk-brut jewels. Pot and pan clatter, blown out mouth harp cut-ups, suitcase percussion, hand me down ukelele, bicycle handle-bar trumpet, skipping records, AM radio static, heavy-handed tape manipulations, and generally stomping around the house like a crazy person while the beans bubbled on the range. Documented using the beloved "bounce" method to a series of boom-boxes, these fledgling jammers have finally been grooved to wax more than a decade later for posterity. Ultra-limited edition of 30 7" records, cut at 33rpm to high quality clear poly-carbonate with black and white labels re-creating the original album artwork. Comes double bagged in audiophile anti-static inner and crystal polyethylene outer sleeves w/ two sided red vellum insert. Crude and beautiful. This is how it all started.
